UK traffic chaos: Huge delays on M25, M6, M60, M5 and other motorways

Traffic has also ground to a halt on the M6 – after an accident closed two lanes.
Lane one and the hard shoulder of the M6 southbound are closed at junction 20, at Warrington.
Road bosses have warned delays are expected until at least 8.15pm.


Delays were already expected on the busy motorway due to roadworks between junction 14 and 15 in Staffordshire in both directions.

The M56, M60 and M62 around Greater Manchester and Cheshire also have severe delays, although these seem to be down to congestion, rather than an accident.

There are waits of up to 50 minutes on the M62 near Rochdale – with roadworks between junction 20 and 21 in both directions making things worse.

Motorists on the M25 are facing hours of traffic chaos with long delays at the Dartford Crossing stretching back to Swanley.

One lane of the motorway heading anticlockwise was blocked between junctions three and two shortly before 4.30pm.

There are also reports of delays in excess of an hour on the M5 southbound Thornbury and Failfield.
The delays stretch from junction 14 to 19.

There is also bad news for anyone planning to head down to the south west on holiday tonight.
A broken down vehicle is causing delays on the M5 northbound near junction 23 in Somerset.
Lane three is closed there and also near Exeter, in Devon, due to debris in the road.

Nokia Aim to Integrate CEM Technology For MTN Nigeria

Naveed Kashif, Nokia’s Account Leader for MTN Group, said, “MTN recognises the growing importance of customer experience management as it seeks to differentiate itself and provide the best possible services to subscribers.” In its quarterly update for the period ended 30 September 2017, MTN recorded a drop in the number of subscribers in markets including South Africa, Uganda, Nigeria and Cameroon, as well as an overall decrease of 0.7%. The telco also announced organic revenue increases in key markets in Africa. MTN Nigeria reported an 11,2% increase in total revenue supported by data revenue growth of 72,1%, but conceded that digital revenue growth has been negatively impacted by the ongoing optimisation of VAS services. Chinese man arrested over US cyber attacks

US authorities claim in court papers that Yu Pingan bought and sold malicious software including the rarely used Sakula program. That malware has been implicated in the 2014 hack attack on the US federal Office of Personnel Management (OPM). Information on a huge number of US workers employed in sensitive or secret work was stolen in that data breach. Software bugs Mr Yu was arrested earlier this week soon after he disembarked from a flight that landed at Los Angeles international airport. He has been charged with breaching computer networks owned by several US firms. Legal papers filed to support the arrest do not explicitly mention the OPM as one of the targets of the suspected attacks. Flight and holiday packages to the north African destination were then suspended due to the incidence, with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advising only essential travel to the region. However, Thomas Cook is one of the first providers to reintroduce flights to Tunisia, two years after the attack took place. Glitter iPhone cases recalled over chemical burn risk

Smartphone case maker MixBin says it is recalling several versions of its liquid glitter iPhone cases because users face the risk of skin irritation or chemical burns. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission , the recall impacts more than 263,000 cases sold in the U.S. for the iPhone 6, 6S and 7. The cases were sold directly by MixBin and through third-party retailers including Amazon, Nordstrom Rack and Victoria's Secret. MixBin says if the case breaks and the liquid comes in contact with the user's skin, it can cause irritations and even chemical burn. CPSC says there have been 24 reports of injuries tied to the cases, including one consumer who said they were permanently scarred from a chemical burn. MixBin is offering refunds to affected case owners, which can be requested through a special recall website. Users must provide a picture of the case when they register for the refund.
