Alibaba Hosts Nigerian Startups in China



 Alibaba, Chinese e-commerce giant, is hosting Suvenia.com alongside three other Nigerian entrepreneurs are currently taking part in the first Alibaba eFounders Initiative Entrepreneurship Training Programme, titled Shaping Champions for the New Economy, hosted in the city of Hangzhou, China.

Alibaba was founded by Jack Ma in 1999 and has grown to become one of the largest e-commerce conglomerates that provides consumer-to-consumer, business-to-consumer and business-to-business sales services via web portals.

The pilot eFounders Initiative Entrepreneurship Training Programme runs from 10 to 23 November 2017. It is organized jointly by the Alibaba Business School and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and hosted at the Alibaba Campus in the city of Hangzhou, China.

25 participants, all from different African countries are participating, where they will learn the skills to effectively advance and develop an e-commerce ecosystem.

Four Nigerian e-commerce business founders currently on the programme are Jessica Anuna, CEO of Klasha.com, a Shanghai-based business currently expanding into Nigeria, Adetayo Bamiduro, Co-Founder of Max.ng, offering express last mile delivery for Africa, Damilare Ogunleye Co-Founder and CEO of Suvenia.com, a self-expression e-commerce marketplace, that allows people discover and buy personalised items, and Maxwell Asowata, CEO of CartNG.com, offering quality products consumers can trust.
